Pan Am Ad 1956, Hemingway testimonial

Pan Am ad Ernest Hemingway 1956

Hemingway Got Around... On Pan Am

In 1956, author and inveterate world traveler Ernest Hemingway was asked to participate in a Pan Am advertising campaign.

In his usual fashion, “Poppa” was happy to remind readers that he was as experienced as Pan American when it came to traveling to distant and exotic places, along with a hint that he was used to doing so when the going was rough – note his comment about travel to China.

Certainly Pan Am crews and personnel proved time and again that they were capable of handling rough situations. It was one reason why Pan American was indeed the “world’s most experienced airline.” It was a natural fit for Hemingway too.
